Menus for Eating Cyclically (vegan & non-vegan)
I used to worry obsessively about the foods I was eating. I'd be so hungry but if the Kale wasn't organic, I didn't eat it. I used to spend hours a day trying to figure out how to feed myself and I'd sit down to a plate of vegetables and feel nauseated just looking at it. I was vegetarian, then vegan, then paleo- I tried it all. Over the years, though, I've learned that life is all about balance, including the foods we eat.
What is your relationship like, with food?
For some of us, we eat intuitively; giving our bodies what she craves without guilt. For others, we like to have control over our food and we sometimes use food not only as a distraction but as a tool for self-control.
Imagine your ancient ancestors. They simply ate the food that was available to them, during each season. In the menus below, I've outlined a way for you to tune into your inner season and use your cycle as a guide. Remember though, to take this all with a grain of salt (pun intended). This is a way to take the guesswork out of what to eat. It's not a one-size-fits-all "if I obsess about following these menus then my hormones will balance" kind of thing.
Health is about mind, body, and spirit feeling in alignment. Food is one part of it, but not the end-all-be-all. So take from this what feels best, and simply leave the rest.
You'll see each season in the heading of each menu. The season correlates with each phase of your cycle.
